Citizens Bank continues to be a major lender – the only major lender – to the country’s two largest private prison companies, CoreCivic and The GEO Group, running dozens of ICE immigration detention centers across the country. Through loans, bond underwriting and credit lines, the bank has played a key role in helping CoreCivic and The GEO Group access more $2.5 billion in financing over the past dozen years, some of it approved this year.

Citizens says it is dedicated to fostering strong communities and social responsibility, but its long-standing support to prison companies and ICE detention centers is exactly the opposite. We need to hold the bank accountable. To that end, the Greater Capital Region Coalition of Indivisible groups has organized coordinated protest actions at eight separate branches of Citizens Bank throughout the Capital Region, and Indivisible Albany is conducting the protest action at the Latham Farms branch on Loudon Road.

In our April Member Meeting we will presenting a tutorial on How to Foil Fascists with FOIL: An Introduction to Public Records Requests. In this introductory presentation, you will learn about the Freedom of Information Law in New York State, what it is, what it isn’t, and how the tool of transparency can be used to inform the people about the actions of their government. We will cover the basics of how to make a FOIL request, strategies for dealing with the public bureaucracies at the other end of your request, and how to tailor your request to best achieve your own particular goals.

Join Troy Indivisible on April 12, 2026 for a presentation highlighting the NY Health Act. This legislation would provide single payer comprehensive healthcare to New York residents. Like Medicare, but better, the Act includes coverage for dental, vision, mental health, hearing, gender affirming care and long-term care. Everyone would have free healthcare in the same way we have schools, fire protection, libraries and all public services. And better yet, it would reduce costs associated with insurers.

The presentation will include a short mockumentary film, “Healthcare Conspiracy” from producers Kevin Deming and Richard Holman. The film will be followed by a talk and QA session by Ashley Fox PhD, Professor at the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and member of the Board of Directors of Physicians for a National Health Program- NY.

Additionally, to liven up the proceedings there will be musical entertainment provided by the “For New Yorkers.” There is a $10 suggested donation. No one will be turned away.

Proceeds benefit Equinox Domestic Violence Services

This event is hosted by our friends at We Get Out the Resistance and will outline actions you can take to resist the Trump Regime, keep our neighbors safe from ICE, support Democrats to win the 2026 mid-term elections and more.

Join UAlbany College students and local Indivisible chapters at West Capitol Park to demand an end to ICE collaboration in our state. We are rising up in solidarity with our immigrant friends and neighbors to say "No" to a campaign of terror and "Yes" New York for All.

Join with our friends in Progressive Schenectady to call out Home Depot for its continued support for, and collaboration with, ICE. Help to inform the community and shoppers about Home Depot's immoral activity: after encouraging day laborers to meet in its parking lots to connect with prospective employers, Home Depot now takes no action when ICE continues to terrorize migrant communities.
