Each committee is guided by co-chairs and is supported by dedicated members who bring their skills, time, and passion to key focus areas, ensuring our movement remains strong, organized, and impactful. Don’t want to be a part of a committee? No worries! You can join as a general member.
Organizing & Events
What They Do: Plan and lead protests, rallies, and local actions.
Why It Matters: This team brings our movement to life in the streets. They coordinate everything from direct actions like marches and phone banking to the behind-the-scenes logistics like permits, materials, and accessibility needs. Their goal is to make sure every action is well-organized, inclusive, and energizing.
Jobs To Do:
Plan and execute public actions
Handle logistics like venues and permitting.
Ensure accessibility and safety for all
Communications, Policy & Advocacy
What They Do: Craft our message and push for policy change.
Why It Matters: This team shapes how we speak to the public and how we respond to political developments.
They manage our social media, emails, and press outreach—and they also work to fight disinformation and keep our membership and communities informed.
Jobs To Do:
Develop messaging, action alerts, and press statements
Produce content, website updates, and social media posts
Track legislation and policy updates
Amplify the work of IA membership and aligned groups
Volunteer & Community Engagement
What They Do: Plan mutual aid activities and grow community partnerships.
Why It Matters: This team helps people plug in and stay connected while building relationships within the communities we serve. They create leadership opportunities so everyone feels valued and empowered. They also work with other charitable and civic groups to coordinate on shared goals.

Yes! While sometimes virtual meetings are simply a logistical necessity, we always try to meet in person. We love sharing ideas and the comradery it brings.

We aim for at least one general member meeting monthly. However, committees are free to have as many meetings as they want during a given month.

It’s completely understandable to feel powerless in the face of the massive and complex political machine that is Washington DC. Thankfully, you’re not alone; together we are stronger. We’ll help you find the way(s) that you can get involved that fits your level of comfort and activism. We have various committees, teams, and actions for you to engage with. And after all that, if you can’t find something you like, we’ll help you build it! Some of the best ideas and initiatives start as a simply suggestion.
