Weekly Member Update - December 29, 2025

As we indicated last week, we’re not doing a formal Update for this weird and dateless Holiday interregnum. But we do want to put a few things on your radar for as soon as the New Year begins.

On Saturday January 3, we’re standing with Senator Patricia Fahy, Assembly Member Gabriella Romero, the Albany Muslim Advocacy Coalition, the Capital Region Sanctuary Coalition and host of other local sponsors in support of our neighbors the Bakhtani family, four of whom have been in ICE custody since early December. For background on the plight of the Capital Region Afghan community, we highly recommend this excellent piece by the Times Union’s Maria Silva.

On January 6, on the eve of the start of the 2026 Session of the NYS Legislature, we’ll gather in the shadow of our State Capitol to mark Three Kings Day with a Vigil of Hope and Solidarity for our Immigrant Neighbors

Finally, on Monday January 12, the Capitol’s Million Dollar Staircase will host a March for the Disappeared in support of the passage of the New York for All Legislation.
