About this event
On Wednesday, January 7th, an American citizen was murdered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.
The Greater Capital Region Coalition is organizing a rally on Saturday, January 10th to demand that ICE get the fuck out of our cities and states. We demand accountability, honor the life lost, and make visible the human cost of ICE’s actions.
We will be occupying the streets and sidewalks of Central Avenue and Wolf Road. Participants can either protest with signs on the sidewalk or participate in a car caravan. Please see the additional instructions below for information about the car caravan.
A core principle behind all ICE Out For Good events is a commitment to nonviolent action and no civil disobedience. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values, and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. All events should be held in public spaces or on public property.
How to prepare
We will need at least 25 cars for the car caravan. If you would like to participate in the caravan, send an email to hello@indivisiblealbany.org. You will be given instructions on where to meet and how to pick up pre-made signs.
You don’t need to email us if you are participating on the sidewalk. Just show up with your signs.
Suggesting messaging for signs: ABOLISH ICE, ICE OUT FOR GOOD, Defund ICE, IMPEACH NOEM, ICE Out of Our Communities, Immigrants Make America Great, etc.
